Thrifty Thursday Tip - Brand Name shoes at almost nothing

Most of my shoes come from the salvation army by union square on 4th ave btw 11th and 12th. Go around twelve or in the early afternoon. I've found an awesome pair of Docs (a really kick ass combat pair- mint condition), a few irregular choice shoes, awesome sneakers. Another tip: I always score amazing find on crappy weather.

Lucy was my lover

Someone snapped a photo of my bike while I was at work back in the t dot (Toronto) a few years back. The photo won first place for the Toronto bike month contest and my bike (named Lucy for her carefree ladylike ways) was plastered everywhere. I gave this bike to a friend before I moved to New York. This bike was 375.00 at the Bathurst st. bike shop, I bought it with my income tax return from college. I got a basket installed and my break fixed at a shop where I ended up together with the bike mechanic for five years. I hope my friend is taking good care of her. The colored lollipop stand is the work of my friends in the city beautification project, check it out on www.visiblecity.ca.

Reading drunk

I took a two week vacation this month from the heat and decided to just read and sleep. The beauty of being dirt broke is that you are forced to find creative ways to spend time without hurting yourself too much. I was only drunk three times in that two week period and only one pair of old, trodden, smelly sneakers suffered as a result. But I loved them... The sneakers were last seen in that body of water that divides manhattan and in what my drunken state thought was brooklyn, but was not, it was jersey. I think I got mad. I always find it amusing the things I take so seriously when I am drunk, is like an emotional tunnel vision of sort.
